OUR FREE WHEELS

FREE WHEELS

They are precision one-way joints made up of two rings , a driving one that pulls and a driven one that is pulled. The motion is transmitted in one direction only and when the two rings engage the transmission of torque occurs, while when the rotation of one goes in the opposite direction the release occurs and free rotation occurs. The material they are made of is steel with tempering treatment and they can be rollers or asymmetric contact bodies . They exist in a version to be centered or already self-centering equipped with ball bearings or bronze bushings . CTS is able to satisfy the most particular needs by building special freewheels to design or by modifying standard products. CTS technicians are also available to verify the correct use of freewheels in your projects and to resolve your problems.

Roller freewheels, when used as overspeed clutches, must be arranged so that in the overspeed range the inner part is stationary or moving slowly and the outer part overspeeds. This arrangement allows a higher number of overspeed revolutions, reduces wear and overheating, thus extending the life of the overspeed clutch. For good lubrication, the use of low viscosity oil (generally hydraulic oil), possibly oil circulation lubrication, is recommended.

Some examples of oils are given in the initial pages of the catalogue under the heading "lubricants"
